Sarah started practising yoga whilst working on a ship in the Caribbean in 2003. Sunrises over the ocean and a very motivated cabin mate’s alarm clock got her hooked. She continued to train in Ashtanga-style yoga later in London, and started to teach whilst living in Malawi in Africa (2006-2008) before completing her 200 hour yoga teacher training certificate in the Himalayas in India in 2010. She also completed additional courses in Nepal. This year she had the pleasure of completing an advanced teacher training course in Anukalana Yoga (Level 2).
She has taught at leisure centres, gyms and dance schools in the UK, as well as Pilates Studios, a Flamenco Academy and in the parks in Madrid (between 2013 and 2015). She thoroughly enjoyed offering free yoga classes and workshops at the Templo de Debod and Retiro Parks. Sarah also taught yoga programmes on retreats in Lanzarote this year. She is excited about sharing her new Anukalana inspired yoga style.
“After initially completing a degree in Psychology, which I continue to find fascinating, I worked as a sports youth leader, dance and drama teacher and taught Performing Arts in UK and International High Schools for 10 years. I love teaching but I sometimes find school curriculum restrictive in relation to creativity and the things that really matter in life. Yoga has been a massive part of my journey; building physical strength for my favourite sport (rowing), developing a healthy, supple body, recovering from injury as well as establishing a clarity and perspective in mind and spirit that is invaluable. I love seeing my students benefit in similar ways and now want to dedicate my life to helping others to experience the physical and emotional well-being that can be so life changing. I have genuinely surprised myself with my own personal development and I’m excited to encourage others to reach their own potential on their own paths.”
